Obituary for Alice M. Currey

Alice Bannon Currey
January 13,1919-August 8,2018
Newburgh, New York
Alice is the daughter of Michael and Anna (Danek) Bannon. She was born and raised in Newburgh, NY with her nine siblings who each passed away before her.
She met the love of her life , Alvin J. Currey, in 1938. They were blessed with two children, John (Elizabeth) of Virginia and Betsy (Jack) of Middletown, NY. Four grandchildren, Dawn, Rob, Brian and Krista who all shared many very special memories with her. Krista chose to ask her granny to be her matron of honor on her wedding day because she wanted her life with her husband to be as special as her granny and gramps' marriage always was.
Alice also had 7 step-granchildren who she adored and shared special times with. Her great grandchildren Shane, Quinn, Kori, Alice (her namesake), Eleanor, Heather and John gave her the inspiration to keep herself going strong after her serious cancers of more than 57 years.
She enjoyed all of her 7 step great and 10 step great great grandchildren immensely.
At the end she closed her eyes and we know she was met by her loving husband of over 56 years.
Our family wants to give a special thank you to the Highland Rehab and Nursing Facility in Middletown for their devotion and care in her final days. Also a special thank you to both John and Solphie.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St Judes.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Cedar Hill Mausoleum at 11:00 AM.
